Its coat was sleek, a chestnut flame,
With eyes that sparkled wild yet tame,
And as it swished its tail once more,
A tiny flutter came before
"Hello, big friend!" the bird sang bright,
"You’re like a tree in morning light!"
The fantail chirped with cheeky cheer,
“I’m just the forest’s volunteer!”
“I flit and fly, I chase the bugs,
I dip through ferns and mossy rugs.
But you! You stand, carved-out wood,
Don’t you ever gallop through the wood?”
The horse gave pause, then gave a grin,
“I run when storms come rushing in.
But stillness too is part of me—
I’m rooted like an old oak tree.
